Title:  Songkran Festival

Songkran is a Thai New Year and a water festival.  Songkran is where the younger go to pour water on hands of the superior to show respect and ask for blessing. Most of the time they pour water on each other and mainly the famous and fun place to play Songkran festival is at Chiang Mai.  Songkran today is still the

most important of all Thai Festivals and holidays.  It is celebrated every year on April 13, but the

festival actually takes place on April 13 – 15.  It includes merit making at Buddhist temples and

family day because this festival usually has a long holiday so most of the people can go back

to their own city.  Some people don’t go back home but use it for traveling.
